On 28 July 2017, the National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC) hosted a Builders and Stakeholders Roundtable session in Nelspruit.
The session targeted NHBRC key stakeholders in the province and focused on latest developments in the organisation including the automated technical assessment (ATAS), new Certificate Security Features, Mobile Units and the Social Transformation Strategy Programme.
Welcoming the delegates, Ms Phumlile Mabaso, NHBRC Acting Provincial Manager said the council is open to engage with all the role players in the construction industry as it presents an opportunity to share ideas and learn from one another.
Speaking at session Ms Nthabiseng Mehale, NHBRC Inland Regional Manager informed the delegates that it was important for NHBRC to keep stakeholders informed about organisational plans. “On 1 July 2017, the NHBRC launched a new security improved Home-Builders Registration and Enrolment Certificates.
The main aim is to keep up with evolving security technologies and limit potential fraud and malicious usage of the NHBRC Certificates. The certificates are enhanced with three stringent security levels and are not easy to manipulate this we believe will be beneficial to you as stakeholders”. She also added that the NHBRC will be continuing to do awareness initiatives to educate all key stakeholders about other developments that will be communicated in the near future.
Ms Portia Sebulela, NHBRC Stakeholder Relations Specialist presented on the Councils plans and Social Transformation Strategy that aims to transform the built environment, with a particular focus on the uplifting of historically disadvantaged individuals.
Stakeholders in attendances included local homebuilders, officials from the Department of Human Settlements, municipality inspectors and financial institutions. The delegates were also informed about the NHBRC training opportunities as well as the introduction of the automated technical assessment as well as Mobile Office Units.
